How to Prepare for Breast Augmentation Surgery
Now that you have decided that you are going to have breast augmentation surgery, it is important that you know how to prepare yourself well for the process. You do not want to be unprepared on the day of surgery or unprepared for your recovery process. Here’s what you need to know to be prepared on the day of surgery and beyond.
Prepare for Recovery
Before the day of surgery, you need to be fully prepared for your recovery. You will likely want to take some time off from work, and your doctor will let you know when you can increase your activity level. During the initial weeks of your recovery you will need to wear a support garment, such as a sports bra or elastic band. Make sure you have these on hand prior to your surgery. If you may need some help around the house for the first week, you might want to make those arrangements ahead of time as well.
Prepare for the Day of Surgery
Your doctor may ask you to do a number of things to prepare for the day of surgery. Many surgeons will not perform elective surgeries unless you quit smoking prior to the surgery. This is because smoking can cause complications. You may also be asked to take certain medications or adjust current medications. You should avoid taking aspirin or ibuprofen before surgery because they can cause bleeding. You should also stop taking any recreational drugs.
Once you are fully prepared for your breast augmentation procedure, the rest of the process is sure to go smoothly. If you need any help in preparing for your big day, contact us for more information or bring it up during your consultation.
