Restylane® is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that softens smile lines and facial folds and adds natural-looking volume to the lips. At Tampa Palms Plastic Surgery, Restylane injections are performed by Jennifer, our nurse practitioner, at our office in Tampa Palms, near Wesley Chapel. Results become clear within about a week as any swelling settles and typically last several months to a year, depending on the product and area treated.
Restylane® is an injectable filler that is composed of hyaluronic acid. It has been FDA approved since 2003. It offers long-lasting treatment for wrinkles, lip sculpting, and facial lines.
Often administered with other procedures, Restylane may also be injected as a stand-alone procedure.
Restylane is composed of a non-animal-based sugar compound found naturally in the body. Depending on the product and the area treated, results may last up to 12 months.

When to Consider Restylane

Restylane vs. Juvéderm
Restylane and Juvéderm are both FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers, and both are offered at our office. They use different gel technologies, so they can feel and move a little differently once injected. Neither is simply “better”; your injector chooses the product based on the area being treated and the look you want. Fillers are often paired with Botox Cosmetic, which relaxes lines caused by muscle movement rather than adding volume.

What are the steps of the treatment?
Prior to the procedure, one or more injection locations will be determined for each treatment area. The locations will be cleaned, antiseptic applied and a topical anesthetic administered. The necessary amount of injection material is determined and injected beneath the skin. The filler adheres to the skin and retains water to boost volume.
What is recovery like following the procedure?
Results of the injections may be obscured for the first few days due to swelling. As the swelling goes down, they should become clear within one week. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately, but should avoid strenuous exercise and extensive sun or heat exposure for the first day, until any redness and swelling go down.
How will I feel after the procedure?
There may be some discomfort due to swelling in the days following the procedure. This discomfort is typically minimal, but may be controlled with medication if necessary.
Are there any possible side effects with Restylane?
The most common side effects are swelling, redness, pain, bruising, headache, tenderness, lumps and itching at the injection site. These are usually mild and short-lived. We will fully review the possible side effects with you during your consultation.
How long does Restylane last?
Results typically last several months up to about a year, depending on the Restylane product used and the area treated. Lips and areas that move a lot may need touch-ups sooner than deeper folds.
How much does Restylane cost in Tampa?
