Tampa Palms Plastic Surgery Introduces Mentor MemoryShape Silicone Breast Implants

“One size does NOT fit all”  is a slogan you’ve probably heard before. Well  “One SHAPE does NOT fit all”  is true in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.  Breast implant manufacturers are well aware of this fact and now they are able to accommodate the varied needs of aesthetic and reconstructive patients by providing more options.  Cohesive anatomic silicone gel implants- often referred to as “shaped gummy” implants- have recently been added to the options available to women and the plastic surgeons who treat them. These implants are designed for women who desire a more natural look- enlargement but with a natural breast shape. Implant selection takes into consideration a patient’s desires and goals and is dictated by  such factors as skin characteristics and bone structure of the chest.  Although shaped  implants have just recently been FDA approved,  Dr. Mosiello has been involved in the testing phase of shaped implants for more than 6 years  and he is excited that they are now available as a choice for all women at least 22 years of age, for either augmentation or reconstruction.

FDA Approves New Styles Of The MENTOR® MemoryShape® Silicone Breast Implant

MemoryShape® Implants are Backed by Unsurpassed 10-Year Clinical Data

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF., September 15, 2014 – Mentor Worldwide LLC, the U.S. market leader in breast aesthetics, today announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved four additional styles of the MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implants, expanding its suite of silicone breast implant products. MemoryShape® Implants are supported by unsurpassed 10-year prospective clinical data. With the addition of these styles, the MemoryShape® Implant product line will better meet the wide spectrum of patient needs.

“This product line demonstrates our commitment to meet the needs of plastic surgeons and their patients with an expanded range of shaped styles and sizes of implants that have demonstrated excellent patient satisfaction and safety in our long-term study,” said David J. Wilson, Worldwide President, Mentor Worldwide LLC. “Our growing portfolio can now more effectively meet the needs of patients undergoing either breast reconstruction or augmentation surgery by allowing a better match between the patient and the implant on height, width and desire for optimal projection.”

“Breast reconstruction and breast augmentation patients have varying desires, specifically with regard to projection. These approved implants address those needs,” said Dennis Hammond, M.D. of Partners in Plastic Surgery of West Michigan, and lead investigator of the MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implant clinical trial. “Expansion of the product line, in combination with Mentor’s unique imprint texturing, limits implant rotation allowing surgeons to achieve consistent, long-term, optimal outcomes for their patients.”

The FDA approval is supported by clinical studies including a core study of 955 patients implanted with MemoryShape® Implant Style MM (FDA approved in 2013) and a study of all five MemoryShape® Implant styles consisting of 3,637 patients. In the core study, patients with MemoryShape® Implants expressed high satisfaction with their breast appearance and 97 percent reported they would make the same decision again to have breast implant surgery.

MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implants Important Safety Information
MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implants are indicated for breast augmentation in women at least 22 years old, or for breast reconstruction. Breast implant surgery should not be performed in women with active infection anywhere in their body, with existing cancer or pre-cancer of their breast, who have not received adequate treatment for those conditions, or who are pregnant or nursing.

There are risks associated with breast implant surgery. Breast implants are not lifetime devices and breast implantation may not be a one-time surgery. You may need additional unplanned surgeries on your breasts because of complications or unacceptable cosmetic outcomes. Many of the changes to your breast following implantation are irreversible (cannot be undone) and breast implants may affect your ability to breastfeed, either by reducing or eliminating milk production. The most common complications with MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implants include reoperation for any reason, implant removal with or without replacement, and ptosis. A lower risk of complication is rupture, which is most often silent (meaning neither you nor your doctor will know you have a rupture) and can only be detected by appropriate imaging techniques such as MRI. The health consequences of a ruptured silicone gel breast implant have not been fully established. MRI screenings are recommended three years after initial implant surgery and then every two years after to detect silent rupture.

Detailed information regarding the indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions, risks and benefits associated with MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implants are provided in three brochures available from your surgeon (Patient Educational Brochure – Breast Augmentation with MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implants, Patient Educational Brochure – Breast Reconstruction with MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implants, and Quick Facts about Breast Augmentation & Reconstruction with MENTOR® MemoryShape® Breast Implants) or www.mentorwwllc.com. It is important that you read and understand this information when considering MENTOR® Breast Implants prior to deciding on surgery.

I love Tampa Palms Plastic Surgery ~ Dr. Moseillo, Mary, Nancy & Paula. I had breast cancer and reconstruction with Dr. Moseillo several years ago and knew I would never let anyone perform surgery on me other than him. I decided I wanted to do an Upper Blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery). I had the surgery a few months ago, am now at my summer home in Maine and everyone is commenting on how great I look. They have no idea that I had anything done! I keep hearing, “you have amazing eyes”. I am so thrilled with the results, feel 10 years younger and if you’re thinking about this procedure, or any other for that matter, do not hesitate to go to Tampa Palms

Dr. Mosiello, plain and simply put , is the BEST ! I did a lot of research and he was the one I chose and am very thankful and grateful that I did, as I had consulted with other plastic surgeons from other cancer centers. Dr. Mosiello surpassed in every area. He and his staff truly care and are warm, friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable. Which takes the stress out of any pre surgery or procedure. Knowing you have the best surgeon in your corner is the most important part. Post surgical procedures look amazing and he has saved my life, and has made me whole again. Look no further, he IS the best.

Dr. Mosiello taught me how to live again after having breast cancer. His staff is truly a blessing. He is an amazing artist and a wonderful Doctor and friend.

I came to Dr. Mosiello’s practice as a reluctant patient who had just been given the diagnosis of breast cancer. I have been in several doctors’ office’s during my diagnosis and treatment and Dr. Mosiello’s office is my favorite. He is a very kind, competent surgeon who patiently answered questions and explained things fully. I was given clear post op directions and checked on by the nurse before my first post op visit and someone was always available if I had a question or concern. His staff is amazing! Melissa, Paula, Mary and Carol are all very personable and caring. This is also an office where I did not wait long periods of time to be seen. Things run smoothly and timely. I would highly recommend Dr. Mosiello to anyone in need of a plastic surgeon.

Melissa H

Dr. Mosiello is an absolute pleasure and privilege to have when in circumstances requiring his knowledge and care. His staff are fantastic as well, all welcoming with a kind smile. Highly recommend this is a doctor and team you can put your trust in.
