Four Helpful Tips for Your Recovery from Breast Augmentation Surgery
Once you have had your breast augmentation surgery, you will have several weeks of recovery. It is important to know what to expect during recovery and how you can best aid the healing process. Here are four tips for your recovery period and heal quickly.
Get Help
No one wants to feel helpless, but you will need some help in the first six weeks after your surgery. Even though the procedure is not complicated, it is surgery, and you will be sore and tired for the first few days. You will also be unable to do any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for about six to eight weeks after the surgery. Remember to follow all your post
Appropriate Pain Management
You should fill any medication prescriptions before the procedure so that you are prepared. Do not begin taking any medications until after surgery, unless instructed to do so. Most patients will need prescription pain medications for the first day or two after the procedure. After a few days, you should be able to manage your pain with over-the-counter pain relievers. Dr. Mosiello prefers that you take Tylenol. Make sure that you take any medications for pain as recommended.
Get Rest and Relaxation
The body needs rest to heal. You will likely feel tired for the first few days or the first week after your procedure. Don’t try to push yourself. Make sure that you are resting when you feel the need and that you have help to manage things while you are resting.
Light Foods and Water
Light foods are important immediately following your breast augmentation surgery. You’ll need food that is easy to prepare so that you don’t overdo it. You also may have some nausea from the anesthesia within the first 24 hours after the surgery. We typically provide medication for nausea so that you have that available if needed. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids, especially water, during the recovery period.
