When you are ready to get breast implants, you want to make sure that you have all of the relevant information prior to your procedure. It is important that you understand the procedure itself, as well as what you can expect with regard to results and recovery. Here are some questions you should make sure to ask during your consultation for breast augmentation.
What implants will you use?
There are many different types and brands of breast implants, and you want to discuss with your doctor which one is right for you. There are silicone and saline implants. They can be teardrop shaped or round. Discuss your options with your surgeon and have him suggest what would be best for the results you are looking for.
Where will you place the implants?
There are two primary locations that the breast implants can be placed. The implant can lie behind the glandular tissue of the breast, which is called subglandular placement. Alternatively, the implant can be placed behind the chest wall muscle, which is called submuscular placement. There are many factors that should be considered when deciding which method is best, and it is important to discuss this with your surgeon.
What will recovery look like?
You may know that full recovery can take six to eight weeks, but do you really know what to expect during recovery? Make sure that you get full recovery instructions and details during your consultation so that you can make arrangements to follow recovery directions well in advance of your procedure. It is always best to be prepared. For example, you will likely need to wear a sports bra rather than a regular bra for at least part of your recovery.
You may have additional questions for the surgeon, but these three questions will help you get a basic overview of the procedure. Remember that there are no stupid questions, and Dr. Mosiello and his staff will be happy to answer your questions .
