When you have your breast augmentation surgery, you will need to have a support person with you at the surgery and immediately after your procedure. This support person should be able to drive you to and from the surgery, take you to fill prescriptions if needed, and care for you until the general anesthesia has completely worn off.
Your choice of a support person is extremely important. This individual should completely support your decision to have breast augmentation. Hopefully, they have been with you throughout the process and are there to help you realize your plans to have firmer, larger breasts. They should also know you well enough to be able to speak for you, if necessary, while you are in recovery.
There are some things that your support person needs to know before the day of the surgery. They should be prepared to drive you to and from the appointment, as you will not be able to drive yourself after the surgery. They should also be prepared to help you in and out of the car and into the house.
Your support person will need to stay with you for the first 24 hours after your surgery. General anesthesia can cause side effects and issues until that point, so it is important that you are not alone. If you can stay with your support person for the night or if they can stay with you, that is best.
You should also prepare your support person to handle your concerns while you are in recovery and unable to think clearly. Make sure that they know where your belongings will be and leave anything valuable directly in their charge.
If your support person has any questions about your care after breast augmentation surgery, have them speak to your doctor before the surgery, either at the hospital or at an appointment before the day of the surgery.
