FAQ
What are the steps of a body lift?
General anesthetic or intravenous sedation is administered before the procedure. Discreet incisions are made near targeted areas of the midsection. These incisions are made along natural body lines for minimally noticeable scarring.
Excess fat and tissue is removed from within the incisions. Often liposuction is also used to remove excess fat deposits. Following liposuction and tissue removal, the skin is stretched to cover the area. Excess skin is removed and the incisions are closed with fine sutures.
What is recovery like following a body lift?
Dressings and bandages are applied to the incisions. Tubes may be left in place to assist with the draining of fluid buildup. Compression garments may be worn for the first few weeks to decrease swelling and bruising.
Swelling and bruising is common. This should begin fading within a few weeks and the results should become clear. Stitches may be removed after about a week, and normal activities resumed. The swelling should continue to dissipate for the next 4-8 weeks.
Will there be scarring following a body lift?
The incisions for a body lift vary in location. This is based on the specific procedures involved and their intensity. The incisions are usually made in discreet locations for minimally visible results. Fine sutures are used and the resulting incision lines may fade for 12-18 months.
How will I feel after the procedure?
Discomfort depends on the specific procedures used. This may be caused by swelling and bruising around the treatment areas. Discomfort may last for several days and may be managed through the use of prescription medication.
Are there any possible complications of a body lift?
Your consultation with Dr. Mosiello will include a complete discussion of potential complications. Specific complications of the procedure may include asymmetric appearance and irregular skin pigmentation. Additional complications may include loss of sensitivity, bleeding and infection.
